Noam Biale Reviews Critical Habeas Corpus Cases for Scotusblog
This month, the Supreme Court heard arguments in Shinn v. Ramirez and Jones, a pair of death penalty cases that will determine whether prisoners can develop new evidence in post-conviction proceedings in order establish that their trial lawyers provided constitutional ineffective assistance of counsel. Counsel Noam Biale published two articles on the cases in Scotusblog, one of the most widely-read online publications about the Supreme Court. Drawing on his scholarly expertise in the habeas corpus field, as well as his deep experience as a criminal defense lawyer, Noam previewed the case before the oral argument and then provided analysis of the argument itself. He will analyze the high court’s opinion for Scotusblog when it is issued, sometime between January and June 2022. Noam’s analysis can be found here.
