Experience
Before joining Sher Tremonte, Paola worked as a consulting attorney in international litigation matters, arbitrations, investigations and compliance audits. She managed teams of attorneys conducting discovery in various languages, providing substantive guidance, organizing, coordinating and creating systems for various aspects of pre-trial and pre-arbitration discovery, assisted in deposition preparation, and participated in strategy meetings. She also worked as an Advisor in legal proceedings in Morocco, meeting with local counsel to discuss international human rights law in order to ensure detainees were treated according to these standards. She gave multiple interviews in Moroccan media regarding her assessment of the country’s compliance with international human rights law in matters related to the arrest of Sahrawi rebels engaged in various revolts throughout the Western Sahara area.
Earlier in her career, Paola was a litigation associate at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, LLP where she represented U.S. and international corporate clients in civil matters, bankruptcy actions, internal investigations, and insurance matters. In the Parmalat Securities Litigation, she second chaired and defended depositions conducted in Italian.
Paola has extensive substantive and discovery experience in complex commercial litigation and immigration law, having represented over a dozen of survivors of domestic violence in Violence Against Women Act petitions and uncontested divorce proceedings pro bono.
Paola is fully fluent in Spanish and Italian and highly proficient in reading, translating from and working in legal matters in Portuguese, having worked with the three languages for over fifteen years. She has intermediate knowledge of French and beginner knowledge of Arabic.
