Sher Tremonte Files Amicus Brief in US District Court on Behalf of 203 Members of Congress

On Friday, February 28, 2025, Sher Tremonte LLP filed an amicus curiae brief in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia on behalf of 203 Members of Congress.

The amicus brief was filed in National Treasury Employees Union, et al., v. Russell Vought, in his official capacity as Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, et al., in support of plaintiffs.

In its amicus brief, Sher Tremonte argues that the Trump Administration’s efforts to shutter the CFPB violate the US Constitution’s fundamental principle of separation of powers, as well as the Dodd-Frank Act that created the CFPB and imposed upon it extensive mandatory responsibilities.

The amicus brief was a joint effort by partner Douglas Jensen, multiple attorneys from Public Justice — Hannah Kieschnick, Lucia Goin and Shelby Leighton – and Sher Tremonte associate Michael Bass.
